Those who have been insured in Austria with the Rot-Weiss-Rot-Karte for at least 21 months can apply for the Rot-Weiss-Rot-Karte Plus, which offers more extensive rights, within 3 months before their residence permit becomes invalid.
The Rot-Weiss-Rot-Karte Plus gives you free access to the Austrian labor market. This means no longer being tied to a specific employer and the freedom to work throughout Austria and in any sector.

Meeting the requirements of Integration Module 1
The application for an extension must be submitted within 3 months before the residence permit expires. Applications not submitted within the specified period (Verlängerungsantrag) are considered as a new application. In this case, you have to start the residence permit process all over again and in some cases you may be asked to leave Austria.
