The Red-White-Red Card entitles foreign skilled workers to live in Austria and work for a specific employer for a period of 24 months. Employment is tied to the employer specified and approved in the application.
A change of employer is possible, but it requires a new application or the corresponding approval. If the employer terminates the employment relationship or the employee leaves the position, an application for a change of employer must be submitted for new employment with another employer — generally within the same or a suitable professional field.
This ensures that both residence and employment in Austria remain legally secured.

The applicant’s education and professional experience must correspond to an occupation listed on the current Austrian Shortage Occupations List.

The applicant must achieve at least 55 points according to the criteria defined by the Austrian authorities.

The new employer must offer a position that corresponds to the applicant’s education, qualifications and professional experience.

The employer must remunerate the applicant in accordance with the applicable collective agreement provisions. The salary must correspond to the respective education, qualifications and professional experience.
The applicant’s specialization must be listed in the current Austrian list of occupations with labor shortages

The employer must employ the applicant in accordance with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement at a wage commensurate with his/her vocational training and experience
